a very young girl lives in a lowland swampy area just south of New Orleans with her alcoholic father and assorted creatures and characters. In a story of love and happiness in a world beyond the lower levels of poverty with people who are happy with their lives and where they are. A beautiful movie (Beasts of the Southern Wild) and an incredible performance by a six year old girl as Hushpuppy.
The actress who plays this role, Quvenzhane Wallis was just nominated for an academy award...and the movie was nominated for best movie. (Nov 2012)
